I have a degree in psychology, and worked in a cognitive neuroscience laboratory for five years doing research on spatial cognition, before tiring of living from grant to grant (though I often still miss the work).
I've worked in the software industry for the past 6 years or so, most recently as a QE programmer, developing automated test frameworks, and finding new and innovative ways to programmatically wreck stuff that other people have put considerable time and effort into.
